I Can Talk
In addition to programming, design, and leadership, I also look good on camera! I enjoy talking about the projects I’ve worked on, and have appeared in various promotional materials for them.
Off camera I’ve also participated at events like the Samsung Developer Conference, demoing VRB Foto to guests on the showroom floor.
I Can Write
Expressing my creativity through purely visual mediums is not enough! I love creating branching narratives, particularly in the science fiction genre. You can see examples of my writing in SubLight’s encounters. As the audience for video games continues to grow, I look for ways to include the diverse views of new gamers. I’m especially interested in catering to underrepresented demographics, like the LGBTQ+ community, who until recently have been woefully underrepresented or misrepresented altogether in games.
Melons!
This project was a quick demo I made to experiment with juicy interfaces and multiplayer networking in Unity3D. It’s one of the older projects I still show off, mainly because I love the idea of racing squishy watermelons. Also, as virtual reality becomes more popular, my experience and love for creating diegetic interfaces is only getting more relevant.
Ducky
Debugging issues on mobile applications using Unity3D presents certain challenges, so I created Ducky. This tool allows a developer console to appear on production builds via a special deep-link. Most importantly, it allowed testers to quickly and remotely dump an entire debug log to a HipChat or Slack channel. Ducky was built as a C# plugin for Unity3D, and the backend API was created using NodeJS and a MySQL database running on an AWS instance.
Tabletop Roleplaying Games
I love the creativity of tabletop games, and if your company needs a Dungeon Master, look no further! Sessions of games like Dungeons & Dragons can be a great team-building exercise, icebreaker, or just a way to let off steam at the end of a long development cycle. I pride myself on making sessions accessible and welcoming to all folks, even if they’ve never touched a tabletop RPG in their life!
